Oh,
where to start... its so easy for a counselor to focus on others, but
when I am asked to talk about myself, I fall short... so let me give it
the ole 'college try'.
I
grew up in San Antonio Texas, raised by educators- so I guess the fact
that myself, both my sisters, and two of our husbands are educators
shouldn't come as a surprise to most.
After
attending Baylor University and graduating in 1991, I found myself in
NISD as an early childhood educator and speech therapist. Finding a love
for the little ones and to those deemed 'at-risk', I transferred to
SAISD where I taught an early childhood behavior unit.
I
met Sean in 1994 and 8 months later... we were married! After our first
year of marriage, his grandmother began to show early signs of dementia
and we moved to the hill country (Vanderpool TX.) to help care for her.
During our 11 years in the hill country I worked as a speech therapist
in a co-op including Camp Wood, Leakey, Utopia, Sabinal, D'Hanis and
Knippa. Five years of travel did me in, so I pursued my Masters in
Counseling. Upon completion, I took a job in Ingram ISD where I was a
middle school and then high school counselor for 5 years.
During
our 11 year stay in Vanderpool, we cared for Nanny and gave birth to
our wonderful three sons, Sutton, Koy and Eli. A few years after we lost
our sweet Nanny, Sean and I made the decision to move to Boerne in
2007. Here I obtained a counseling job at Curington Elementary and Sean
found a teaching position at Boerne Middle School South. My parents are
residents of Boerne as well as one of my sisters (who teaches 4th grade at Cibolo Creek Elementary)... Boerne just 'fit'
for us.
Today
you will find us at some type of sporting event or stock show... Sutton is 17, Koy is
14 and Eli is now 10. All three are very active in baseball and football, being that I was raised by a coach, I love that my kids play sports. If ever at a local stock show, you will find me in the steer barn with Sutton's 4H project.
I love the community of Boerne- I couldn't think of a better place to raise my children.
